O.N.E. Amazon Acai contains the necessary Omega-3's your body needs!

The typical North American diet contains a whopping 80-110g of fat daily. However, even with all that fat, most of us are deficient in omega-3, the most essential fat.

Scientific evidence continues to show omega-3 fats, particularly DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid), help protect your heart, joints and brain. Unfortunately, ninety percent of the omega-3 most of us regularly consume is plant-based ALA (Alpha-Linolenic Acid). ALA must be converted to DHA and EPA, an inefficient process for many people. For example, flax seed contains omega-3 but does not provide DHA or EPA. Most adults would need to consume 10-40 grams of flaxseed oil to produce just 0.2 grams of DHA. Therefore, it is important to understand that not all omega-3 fats provide you with DHA and EPA.

The average intake of DHA and EPA in the United States is about 100 mg per day, equivalent to half a can of sardines every ten days. This is a far cry from the recommended 1-2 grams per day. Another study found that men with the highest levels of dietary omega-3 fatty acids had an 81% lower risk of dying suddenly compared to men with the lowest levels.

O.N.E. Amazon Acai - Rich in Antioxidants and Polyphenols

17-Sep-2008 -

An antioxidant-rich juice containing açai may reduce levels of markers of inflammation linked to conditions such as heart disease, says a new study.

Writing in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, researchers report that the antioxidant-rich juice was able to protect cells from oxidative damage, and, when consumed by a small number of volunteers, showed anti-inflammatory properties.
“Antioxidant consumption, along with anti-inflammatory treatment, is being critically evaluated as a potential strategy for reversal of disease progression,” wrote lead author Gitte Jensen from Holger NIS Inc., a contract research laboratory.

Açai berries (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) have long formed part of the staple diet of Indian tribes. With the appearance of a purple grape and taste of a tropical berry, it has been shown to have powerful antioxidant properties thanks to a high level of anthocyanins, pigments that are also present in red wine.

“In contrast, studies on polyphenols may be much more promising, and may be more relevant, as these types of antioxidants are the most abundant in a health-conscious diet.”

O.N.E. Packaging is BPA Free

As you may have seen recently in the news a huge study about BPA Plastic was just released. It showed adverse health effects of people who have high levels of BPA in their systems. Many plastics contain BPA – baby bottles, water bottles, food containers, etc.

Tetra Pak does NOT use BPA in their packaging materials.

Scientists at the University of Crete have used HPLC in combination with a Thermo Scientific XSeriesII to produce a method allowing the separation and measurement of antimony species in fruit juices. The method allowed the separation and determination of inorganic antimony III and V species. The research showed that juices stored in PET bottles showed an elevated level of total antimony when compared to juices stored in cartons. Some correlation was observed between the period of storage in the bottle and the antimony concentration. The presence of the elevated antimony level is thought to be due to the leaching of the antimony from the polymer, since antimony trioxide is commonly used in the production of such polymers. The speciation analysis showed that antimony was present mainly in the inorganic Sb III state and as an Sb V -citrate complex. Further studies were performed by diverting 25% of the flow to electrospray ionisation and a Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum triple quad mass spectrometer. This was used for structural elucidation of the citrate species.
